The site Phones and Plans does what it says on the tin – help people find the very best mobile deals in Australia.

When you want to get a new phone, you ask a few friends, go around a few stores and then just get something that catches your fancy without thinking very much about the plan you are getting. Even if you want to compare plans and deals from different carriers, there is no easy way as there is so much jargon and fine print to wade through.

At Phones and Plans, we turn the problem on its head. We start with You – How many calls do you make in a day? Do you need data? Text messaging? Voicemail? Do you have a phone in mind? A particular feature you must have? Once we know how you use your phone, the Mobile Deal Finder runs that information through every eligible plan in our database to find out which ones work best for you. And with over 300 plans from 13 carriers, you are bound to find some great options.

The idea of Phones and Plans was first born six years ago as a small expense management consultancy for small businesses. We analysed telecom bills for small business and advised on the best deals based on their usage, representing the interest of the business rather than that of the phone companies wanting to sell to them. We had many happy clients but life happened and we moved on to other things. Last year the idea took root again, but this time in the form of a consumer centric online model and www.phonesandplans.com.au was born.
